Director III

Under the direction of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Director III will be responsible for managing and coordinating all bookkeeping and financial record keeping tasks in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal and State laws and internal control procedures for the Kean University Foundation. Responsibilities include all phases and functions of accounting: accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash receipts, cash disbursements, monthly journal entries, account reconciliation, payroll functions and preparation of financial statements; maintaining endowment market values, charitable gift annuity and scholarship financial records; preparing monthly project and financial reports; supervising staff; and performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and a minimum of three years of experience in accounting related work required. Previous foundation or non-profit experience preferred. Extensive experience with Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge software and strong written and oral communication skills are essential.

Corporations and Foundations Development Officer (Director III)

The Division of Institutional Advancement at Kean University seeks a Corporations and Foundations Development Officer to compose, package and present grant proposals to private organizations, corporations and foundations, as well as identify and solicit support from the aforementioned through site visits and documented communication. Working independently or in collaboration with faculty and the administration, the Corporations and Foundations Development Officer must be able to secure more than $1 million per year in grants. This is a full-time, grant funded position and employment is contingent upon renewal of grant funds.
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, responsibilities include managing and developing grant proposals for the Kean University Foundation; managing the identification of appropriate funding sources including those not previously identified by the university; meeting externally with corporations and foundations to establish and cultivate relationships; creating project proposals in collaboration with prospective project directors regarding funding needs and ideas; developing and managing policies and procedures for grant proposals in the $25K+ range; managing presentations to corporate CEO’s and the Foundation Board of Directors; and performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Three years of experience in grant proposal writing and funding source identification is required, additional experience is preferred. Prior experience in corporate giving, fundraising, and solicitation also required. Knowledge of needs analysis, planning, and program development in the private sector is important.

Senior Development Officer (Director III)
Kean University, the third largest public university in New Jersey (13,000 students and 65,000 alumni) is seeking an experienced development professional. The university is in the leadership phase of a comprehensive capital campaign and is currently expanding the staff in preparation for the public launch in June 2007. With a number of centers of excellence and new facilities, Kean is undergoing a major transformation.
Under the direction of the Director of Individual Giving of the Kean University Foundation, the Senior Development Officer is accountable for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors capable of making significant gifts ($25,000 or more).
Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of prospects (200+) and an active cultivation, solicitation and stewardship schedule (minimum 40% time spent on visits) with prospects and donors; participating in developing appropriate prospect cultivation strategies; determining potential giving opportunities and optimal gift levels; maintaining knowledge of planned giving arrangements; managing specific special projects as required; and performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in a related field preferred. Three years of experience in a related position required, additional experience preferred. Previous experience in higher education is also preferred. Good overall computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, with knowledge of Raiser's Edge software a plus. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Candidate must be a highly-motivated self-starter.

Kean University Foundation
Program Assistant
Under the direction of the Managing Assistant Director, the Program Assistant performs professional functions using established policies, procedures and guidelines; maintains confidential records for the Foundation Board and Office of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement; attends Foundation Board and committee meetings; and performs additional duties as required. This is a full-time, grant funded position and employment is contingent upon renewal of grant funds.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree or an Associate’s degree with two years of experience required. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis. A minimum of three years of experience in a related position is preferred. Good overall computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.

Office of Financial Aid
Professional Services Specialist III
Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the Professional Services Specialist III provides students, parents and the campus community with accurate information regarding financial aid and related areas; performs Federal need analysis, verification and determines student award eligibility; certifies Federal and private educational loans and conducts entrance and exit counseling for students; coordinates and reviews EOF awards; and performs additional duties as required. This position requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in a financial aid office required. Knowledge of computer programs and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access required. Excellent customer service skills and oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience working with Datatel software preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is also preferred.

Associate Director III *Search Extended*
Under the supervision of the Director, the Associate Director assists with the administration of the Office of Student Accounting; develops and implements policies and procedures; manages and oversees all technical issues related to accounts receivable and cash receipts systems and processes; provides reports to the Director; updates office manuals and the Student Accounting website; and performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of related professional experience required. Experience in computer/technical administration in an institution of higher education related to student accounting or financial aid preferred. Basic web development skills, management information systems, technical support and Datatel experience preferred. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, plus organizational, customer service and time management skills.
